DOW FILMTEC™ SW30HRLE-440i High Rejection High Flux Seawater Desalination RO Elements

DOW FILMTEC SW30HRLE-440i  is a premium grade seawater reverse osmosis element featuring both high active area and high salt rejection to offer the best long-term economics for seawater deslination systems. DOW FILMTEC SW30HRLE-440i delivers high boron rejection to help customers meet World Health Organization (WHO) and other drinking water standards.

DOW FILMTEC SW30HRLE-440i Elements offers sustainable lower lifecycle cost for medium- and high-salinity feedwaters with high stabilized salt rejection of 99.80% and high boron rejection. The highest guaranteed active area of 440 ft2 (41 m2) permits lowest system cost by maximizing productivity and enables accurate and predicable system design. A 28-mil feed spacer provides low cleaning frequency and high cleaning efficiency. iLEC™ Interlocking End Caps reduce system operating costs and the risk of o-ring leaks that can cause poor water quality.

DOW FILMTEC Seawater Reverse Osmosis 8" Elements separate salts from water and are designed to reduce capital and operational costs of large desalination systems that produce greater than approximately 10 gpm (2300 L/h) of permeate. FilmTec Seawater RO products combine excellent membrane quality with automated precision fabrication, taking system performance to unprecedented levels.

SW30HRLE-440i SWRO element is iLEC interlocking style for direct connection of membranes in multi-element housings.

  • The combination of very high active area with a thick feed spacer (28 mil) allows low cleaning frequency and high cleaning efficiency. 
  • iLEC™ interlocking elements connect end-to-end inside of the housing, eliminating the need for membrane interconnectors and offering the following benefits: ​
    • Reliable and long-term seal integrity – The single, non-sliding seal reduces the number of potential leak sites and is evenly compressed upon installation.
    • Leak-tight performance – The iLEC design eliminates the possibility of o-rings being rolled from their grooves or pinched and damaged during operation.
    • Lubricant-free operation – Omission of o-ring lubricant to preserve permeate quality, such as in ultra-pure water applications, will not compromise sealing performance.
    • Backward compatibility – Compatibility with existing hardware is maintained. The smooth inner bore located at each end of the permeate collection tube is unchanged, permitting insertion of sliding couplers and existing vessel adapters. The net length of the elements, when connected, remains 40 inches.
    • Reduced permeate pressure drop – Internal couplers and vessel adapters account for more than 70 percent of the permeate-tube pressure drop in some systems. The interlocking endcap design minimizes these restrictions, imposing less permeate backpressure.
  • Sustainable high performance over the operating lifetime of the element, because oxidative treatments are not used in membrane production. This is one reason DOW FILMTEC elements are more durable and may be cleaned more effectively over a wider pH range (1-13) than most other RO elements, which use oxidative treatments. 
  • Effective use in permeate staged seawater desalination systems without impairing the performance of the downstream stage.
